(CARICOM Secretariat) The Regional Train-the-Trainer Workshop on Restorative Justice, using the Sycamore Tree Project methodology ended on 4 December, in Georgetown, Guyana. The initiative targetted officials from the government Criminal Justice System and non-govermental organisations working in rehabilitation, across the Region.

This capacity building initiative is an activity of the Crime and Violence Prevention and Social Development Project within the Caribbean Forum/European Union (CARIFORUM/EU) Crime and Security Programme. It is funded under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF).

The Workshop provided an opportunity for sharing information on experiences among members in the Community. In the closing session, many participants lauded the CARICOM Secretariat for the initiative. They   spoke about the knowledge and insights gained from the training and its potential benefits for reducing recidivism and helping crime prevention. To this end, they indicated their commitment to implement what they have learned by training others in their respective territories.
